What is rapid
connect?
Rapid Connect is an
open-source gnutella client that will (soon)
incorporate multiple p2p (peer-to-peer)
protocols into the one interface. These have
been planned to include: Nupeer, opennap,
overnet, edonkey2000 and fasttrack. Although
currently in alpha state (minimal
functionality), the project is coming along
nicely, and we welcome you to test it and
give suggestions.
Why cant I
run the program?
Rapid Connect
requires, Windows 98 or greater and the .NET
Framework 1.1 installed (available to
download
here).
To compile the source code, Visual Basic
.NET is required.
Do I require an Internet connection?
Yes. Although, you
can set it up to work only on your LAN IP
ranges (for setting up your own secure
file-sharing network) *A wizard-like guide
will be integrated into a future version of
Rapid Connect as the project progresses.
Is this
software fully working?
At this stage
(pre-alpha) of development Rapid Connect,
no. We welcome (more INSIST) you to try out
Rapid Connect and submit your comments,
feature requests or bug reports to the
forum.
How do I
keep up with updates?
At this point of
time: manually. You need to check back to
the homepage every now and then. And
auto-update feature will be implemented very
shortly.
Does this software contain or support spyware or
viruses?
No!
Does Rapid Connect work behind a
firewall/router?
Yep. And It has to
because the test/development machine is
behind a firewall/router. =)
I'm a Micro$oft hater and I do not wish to
install .NET Framework 1.1, can I still run
Rapid Connect?
Well, umm.. how do
I answer this.. erm. Just install it! (Rapid
Connect wont work without it)
How do I
search for a file?
You serious? ...
and Rapid Connect was supposed to be as easy
to use as possible. Ok, answering the
question - After you are connected, click on
the search icon from the tool bar (the one
that says "search" & looks like a magnifying
glass). Type in your search query in the
text box and press enter.
